About Chris

I didn’t set out to write a book; this story found me and it begged me to be written. It’s inspired by actual events and an inherited shoebox full of letters, but the names, places and details are highly fictionalized.

I spent my career in IT and have written reams of boring, technical documentation. The Rectory allowed my creative side some room to roam. Early readers have already suggested some great ideas for sequels so if I can find an audience for The Rectory, there will be more to come.

I live in the mountains of western North Carolina with my wife, Amy, and our regular visitors of deer, bobcats, bears, turkeys, squirrels, woodchucks, foxes, occasional snakes (not a fan), and lots of birds.

What I’m Reading

I just finished a great book by Jennifer Bardsley, The History of Us. I highly recommend all of her books. Great storytelling, dialogue and character development. Her books are a great escape.

I was lucky enough to have Jennifer Bardsley provide a critique of the first ten pages of The Rectory as well as providing valuable feedback on my query letter. Her insights were invaluable. She is extremely talented and it’s great that she is giving back and helping to guide us newbie writers.

I am currently reading a historical fiction novel by Jennifer Chiaverini, Switchboard Soldiers, which is a fascinating story about the first women in the U.S. Signal Corp serving in France in World War I.
